The highest hotel rooms in the world are found in the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai. There, the Grand Hyatt has 555 hotel rooms distributed over 53rd to the 87th floors. Analogous to the highest Buddhist pagoda, the tower is separated into 13 horizontal segments. Each segment is one eighth smaller than the section directly underneath.

The elliptically shaped foyer is supplied with daylight via a room-high glass curtain. At the same time, it offers a panoramic view of the entire city.
