Private Water – Beirut 2004
The bathroom in the dialog between cultures.

Following the first two workshops held in Cuba, Beirut was the scene of events this time for the intense dialog regarding the "water-space-human relationship". The center of Arabian bathing culture served as a source of inspiration for a creative exchange along the lines of the motto "The bathroom in the dialog between cultures". Ten well-known architects from Middle East and Europe got to experience the dynamic tension arising from the influences that the regional, cultural traditions and globalization exercise on the design of the bathroom. As the embodiment of Arabian bathing culture, the "hamam" is reflected in all of the participants' designs.
